About the Event
You are warmly invited to join us at the Zonta Club of Wellington for our first dinner meeting - On Tuesday 27 February 2024.
Our speaker this month is: Tylah (Ty) Farani-Watene one of the YWCA Y25 of 2023 (https://www.ywca.org.nz/y25/y252023/), Multiethnic Young Leaders Pasifika Vice-Chair, and member of Inspiring Stories Youth Advisory Board.
Ty (she/her) is a proud descendant of Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, with ancestral ties to Taputimu, Nofoali'i, Ngāti Maru, and Fiji. Based in Wellington, Ty advocates for indigenous rangatahi, sustainable development, racial justice, and civic education. Despite overcoming neurosurgery during the pandemic, Ty found her calling for global change. She is passionate about empowering marginalised communities, focusing on Māori and Pasifika youth, believing that activating indigenous knowledge is key to a better world. Ty champions sustainable development worldwide and aims to include Māori and Pasifika voices in global discussions. She aspires to be a role model for her two younger sisters.
