Our keynote speaker, Theresa Setefano ia a remarkable force both on the rugby field an in her community.
Theresa Setefano (nee Fitzpatrick) is widely celebrated not only as a world‑class athlete but as a powerful Pacific leader whose influence reaches far beyond the rugby field. She has forged an extraordinary career, becoming a multiple Rugby World Cup champion and a double Olympic gold medallist for the Black Ferns Sevens, showcasing excellence at the highest level of the sport.Â
Her leadership shines on and off the field through her consistency, resilience, and commitment to elevating others.
Recognised with the University of Auckland’s Sportswoman of the Year and Most Meritorious Performance awards multiple times, she embodies what it means to lead with humility, courage, and purpose. Driven by her deep awareness of Pacific health inequities, she pairs her athletic achievements with academic study in Health Science, determined to improve outcomes for her community.

Theresa’s journey reflects the strength of Pacific women - grounded in identity, service, and love. Whether breaking defensive lines or breaking barriers for future generations, she leads by example: proving that elite performance and cultural pride can stand together as a beacon for young Pacific athletes across Aotearoa and the world.
